NZ +24: The Island

We went to the cinema again last night. (Did I already mention we had been to see The Fantasic Four? Which wasn't that Fantastic...)

Well, tonight we went to see The Island, with Ewan McGregor and Scarlett Johananhansssonnn (who appears to have no discernable acting talent).

Certainly not what I expected. If I were the people who made The Matrix or, for those of us who are a little older, Logan's Run, I would be suing.

Has anyone else seen it? What did you think?

The Island - mixed reactions.
Think it was slated a little unfairly by the critics. After all it is an action film so what were they expecting. And yes there are similarities to other films. Unfortunately every film tries to be the matrix these days (except matrix reloaded which tried and succeeded to be pants and the matrix revolutions which tried to be terminator, aliens and every other sci-fi film rolled into one and succeeded in being even more pants). Ewan certainly didn't look that comfortable with yet another hollywood blockbuster and scarlett was........well she was blonde and pretty if not quite Jenny Agutter.
Have seen better but have seen a lot worse. 5/10 (this is based on the ambler film classification system; highlander 10 hellboy 7 armaggeddon 0 titanic -10) Interesting that the director's other notable fims have been armaggeddon and pearl harbour!!!

Thanks, mate. Wasn't expecting anything quite so thorough quite so soon! Does the Ambler Scale go below -10?
